Natural Ways to Prevent Swimmer’s Ear (and Why Our After-Swim Spray is a Must!)
Coach Jenny sells her swimmer’s ear drop blend - just $7 per bottle!
At Kona Swim Lessons, we believe in more than just teaching strong strokes — we care about your child’s whole swim experience, including what happens after they get out of the water. One of the most common issues we hear from swim families? Swimmer’s ear — that itchy, uncomfortable feeling that can turn into painful infections if left unchecked.
But here’s the good news: you don’t need to spend big on store-bought drops or harsh chemicals. We’ve got a simple, natural, and budget-friendly DIY recipe that works — and a powerful follow-up tip that most swim families overlook.
Prefer a ready-made option? Coach Jenny also sells a pre-made swimmer’s ear solution — just ask at your next lesson! If you want to try making it yourself here is Coach Jenny’s recipe!

🧴 DIY Natural Ear Drops to Prevent Swimmer’s Ear
Recipe:
• 1 part distilled water (to gently dilute)
• 1 part white vinegar (to acidify the ear canal and fight bacteria)
• 1 part isopropyl alcohol (to dry out trapped water)
** If you want to be extra you could put 1 drop of CPTG Lavender essential oil from dōTERRA.
Mix and store in a small dropper bottle. After every swim, place 2–3 drops in each ear. Let it sit for a few seconds, then tilt the head to let it drain.
👉 This costs pennies per use and works just as well (if not better) than the name-brand swimmer’s ear drops.
👉 It’s safe, effective, and easy to keep in your swim bag year-round.

💧 But What About Chlorine on the Skin? Isn’t that also causing havoc?
Most families focus only on rinsing with water — but chlorine is sneaky. It clings to the skin and hair even after showering, leading to dryness, itchiness, and irritated skin — especially in kids with sensitive skin.
That’s where our Vitamin C After-Swim Spray comes in.

🌿 Why Our After-Swim Spray Works
Chlorine is alkaline and oxidative. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is acidic and neutralizes chlorine on contact.
Our spray uses just a few natural ingredients to:
• Dissolve lingering chlorine on skin and hair
• Restore skin’s pH balance
• Soothe irritation from daily swimming
• Leave kids smelling clean — not like pool chemicals
